About This Game

Goodbye, and thanks for all the cheese.

The first mammals to colonize another planet were mice. Some researcher had made a few mice very intelligent and had sent thousands of them to an alien planet. One day, the Mice declared independence. We hadn’t seen that coming. Our first instinct was to go to war, but the mice were superior to us. They disabled our weapons and used the parts to build large cheese factories in the clouds above Venus. We waited for a counterattack, but it never came.

Now, as one of the first humans to venture into the solar system, you can barely remember your flight lessons, but a friendly AI keeps you company. Even though you did your best, you’ve veered far off course, and the nearest planet is Mercury. Suddenly, your artificial intelligence chimes in, “There’s cheese on the radar!”

Silly and inquisitive

Gravity Break is a space adventure aimed at children. The core of the game is an easily accessible physics simulation of space travel, inspired by Newton’s laws and accelerated in time so you don’t have to wait a year to understand how time works. The game’s systems play with rocket physics, through the risky gravity slingshots or considering how much fuel you need to buy that extra ton of cheese.

Playful learning

Gravity Break is primarily intended as an entertaining game, but the concept is driven by curiosity. The developer behind it is a huge space enthusiast with a deep love for astrophysics, rockets, and robust systems. Therefore, it is my ambition to explore:

• How the solar system opens up when rocket travel is no longer so cumbersome?
• How the economy can evolve if you tweak the competition parameters?
• How long I can avoid implementing a laser in the game?

Ongoing development

Gravity Break is in its very early stages, so much can change. Right now, it’s a short sequence of missions introducing the player to how to control their rocket. The plan is to develop an economic system next, but if you think I should rather add the laser or look into multiplayer, hop onto my Discord and tap me on the shoulder!
