About This Game

In Forum Mortuorum, lead your gladiator school from obscurity to glory. Employ your limited funds to recruit and equip your gladiators. Pick your matches and relax while your gladiators fight to the death for your profit. Train those that survive that they may fight again, stronger. Meet an eclectic cast of characters, expand your facilities, conquer the leagues, and become the most famed school of Rome.

Recruit, judging gladiators on their innate traits and training. Once they join your school, outfit them with the armor and weapons that compliment the fighting style you choose, or simply with the best equipment you can afford.

Gladiators that survive gain experience. Train them, granting powerful perks. When a gladiator dies, you can retrieve their equipment but not their skills, so use caution when putting your premier team into the ring. When a gladiator has served in the ring to your satisfaction, reward them with freedom, unlocking new interactions, such as training your current team.

No matter how well equipped, gladiators lives are fleeting, so it’s wise to make investments outside of your team as well. Build up your school’s facilities to enable new team configurations, new gladiator classes, and other boons across your fights. Brick and mortar will last longer than flesh, after all.

In training fights, you may choose your opponent, but if you wish your team to advance, you’ll need to enroll in league matches and tournaments. Fight in arenas across the Mediterranean, each with unique hazards, opponents, and opportunities. Prior to the match, advise your gladiators with the best tacitics you can because once in the ring, you can only watch from the stands as they fight to the death. Of course, from the stands you can always double down by betting on your team… or against them.

Beyond the arena, the ancient Mediterranean offers an eclectic cast of characters and wonders. In your journey, meet the mysterious alchemist, the noble patron, the foreign zoologist, the itinerant merchant, and the dubious taxidermist, among others. These flavorful folks will put you up to special tasks such as hunting down and fighting mythical beast, adding challenges to the arena to press your luck, and offering unique benefits to your school.

Finally, once you’ve cut your way through all other foes, you’ll be ready for the grand tournament in Rome, fighting before the emperor himself. Win and glory will be forever yours. Ave, gladiatores!
